Peter Jordt was born in Germany, came to Canada at the age of six, and grew up in rural Ontario. After attending McMaster University he returned to live in Germany where he became interested in a career in Art. In 1979 he moved to Vancouver and during the mid 1980's operated a retail art gallery showing his own and other artists' work. Since 1991 the artist and wife Marilyn Charles have lived on the Sunshine Coast where Peter has been an active member of the Art community, including a solo show at the Sechelt Art Center as well as participating in numerous group exhibitions and attending weekly life-drawing sessions.

A self described 'experimenter' Peter works in a variety of media-oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels-and also produces small edition silkscreen and woodcut prints. Recently he has found a new interest in working with ink, using traditional ink sticks, ink stone and handmade Chinese and Japanese papers.
